The Big 3-0

A couple of weeks ago, I turned 30. You might remember that a few years ago, at 28, I was already stressed about my impending 30th. The funny thing is that once I got that out of my system, I was totally fine with all things 30. Maybe I needed to spaz out early, in order to give myself the time to get things together. During that time, John and I had just decided to make the move to LA, we were changing jobs and starting over. That was all pretty scary and I thought to myself, what if this doesn’t work and things don’t fall into place like we imagined and we find ourselves in the same position again at 30? Maybe that fear made us push a little harder. But whatever the case, I’m here and I couldn’t be happier or more secure with who and where I am in life.

The last year has been pretty amazing for us. We did indeed make the move to LA. We took a few months off and really got to enjoy each other and summer in our new city. We FINALLY got a dog. Literally like a week after we moved here (!!!) Having her has been an amazing learning experience and it has brought a whole new level of love to our family. We started gardening. We ride our bikes more. We can walk to the beach. For a while we were lucky enough to both work freelance, which meant that we could take time off in the middle of the week to do something crazy like go to the Ace hotel for a few days. Something we know, was pretty rare and pretty special. We re-kindled friendships with old friends in LA and have had the pleasure of also making new ones.

I guess its true what they say, that as you get older, your pool of friends may get smaller, but the ones that remain get stronger. Last weekend I invited a group of close friends to join us by the beach for a weekend of giggles and sunshine. I merged a few different circles of friends, which can always be nerve wracking, and I couldn’t believe how well everyone got along. These friends are my nearest and dearest and each of them means the world to me. It was pretty amazing to be surrounded by all of them (two of which were able to come out all the way from Israel!!) as I celebrated another year.

As things usually go, we got a bit silly. We had a pretty epic dance party and John made the most amazing video of it all. I seriously can’t stop watching it. It’s hilarious. It cracks me up every time I watch it, and I cant help but notice something new each time. I think from here on out, if I have a bad day I might just have to watch this. It’s the new “googling puppies”. Oh. You guys don’t do that?

Enjoy, and feel free to watch it over and over again. haha.
