Ross & Jess get married!

A few weeks ago our close friends Ross and Jessica got married. Although we were in the wedding, we still really wanted to make them some sort of keepsake. So even though we didn’t have a lot of time to capture footage, we managed to pull something together, and to our delight, the couple is thrilled with the results! Jess and Ross, we love you to death!

Jessica and Ross got married in Piedmont Oakland California on July 31st 2010. We used our mock super 8mm camera and the song which they danced their first dance to.

A Story Told Well Presents:

Miss Emily Brown with “World Traveller”

In September 2009, we spent a day with Miss Emily Brown in Vancouver, BC as she cooled her heels between tours and recorded material for her upcoming release “In Technicolour”. A freshly-landed Hannah Epperson backs her up on violin, having just returned from a half year overseas in Berlin, Germany.

This song was recorded in a graveyard near Main and 25th as the sun settled in for the night, and its sombre tones seemed to settle in nicely between the plots surrounding us that evening.

Special thanks to the lovely Ms. Erin Loechner of Design For Mankind (www.designformankind.com) for hand crafting the flowing script that makes up the titling for the piece.

Bertrand Normand’s Ballerina

John worked late tonight, so it seemed like a good night to watch something in my netflix instant que that does not interest him. I chose Bertrand Normand’s documentary film Ballerina. The film follows five Russian ballerinas from the prestigious Mariinsky Theater (Kirov Ballet). The five dancers are all at different stages in their careers and all uniquely different from one another.

and here is a snippet from the film, my favorite part. Uliana Lopatkina rehearsing the dying swan in Swan Lake. Her silhouette in the light is amazing.

Whiskeytown Lake

Last weekend our buddy Matt invited us to join him in birthday celebration. So a bunch of us headed up to Whiskeytown Lake, just outside of his home town of Redding, CA for some fun, sun and friends. It was a nice escape. We rented some boats, stayed out on the lake all day then camped the night. We shot some footage of the trip on our Kodak Zi8 which is basically Kodak’s version of the FLIP but it shoots a bigger frame size and allows for different frame rates. Either way its still a tiny little hand held camera, so some of the footage is a bit bouncy, all the same though I love re-living the memories through the little film John put together.
