break for nyc

Posted March 1st, 2010 by Gaelyn

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. John and I spent the last week in New York on business. My work hired John on for a job, which was really fun, and we payed to stay an extra night so we could have a play day on saturday! We stayed at the Ace hotel, which I’ve been dying to stay in! It’s adorable, they don’t miss a single detail, amazing. All of my personal photos are on John’s laptop which i don’t have access to right now, so i have stolen some images off the interwebs for your viewing pleasure.

front door

our room looked similar to this one, minus the couch and smaller bathroom

love these hangers! i need a set. "you look good in that"

john loved the stencils on each floor exiting the elevators

lobby-quite the hot spot at night

our room had a record player- awesome. we didnt use it- not awesome.

our bathroom mirror read "love is meant to make us glad"

lobby

Stumptown

As you can imagine, John was ecstatic to find out that the Ace NYC serves one of his favorite coffee roasters, Stumptown coffee. He was sure to get one everyday.

We got hit by a crazy winter storm while we were there, and got about a foot and half of snow in one day. All of the locals were over it (winter that is), but since we dont get very much season differentiation here in San Francisco, we enjoyed it. I mean why be stuck in the rain, we have rain at home, bring on the snow! The city looked absolutely gorgeous! John and i made a little video around town on our day off. Which hopefully he will let me share later that shows a lot of the beautiful snow. Here’s a few crummy pics from my phone to hold you over. Keep in mind that when we arrived, the streets were dry and clean, all of this snow happened instantly!

we revisited the place where we got engaged, the lake was frozen. looked a bit different.

Of course what New York trip would be complete without a little shopping. This time we made our way over to the J.Crew Liquor Store , to see it in person. Pretty cute, Andy Spade, another man who doesn’t miss a detail.

New York never ceases to inspire me.

ha, that’s funny Carina, i guess SF is a more digestible version of NY. But i find NY so much more inspiring than SF, but i guess, the odds are in their favor, bigger city, tons more shops restaurants etc. the odds of lots of them being inspiring are greater…
