Monday night I went to an AIGA lecture where Andy Spade was the speaker. Being that it is Wednesday now and 10pm I feel a little brain dead on the subject, but it was pretty inspirational. Andy Spade was a founding partner of Kate Spade and Jake Spade (however the husband and wife team no longer own the companies). As a side note, one which I’m sure he’s sick of, Andy is also comedian David Spade’s brother. I think what i love most about Andy’s work are his spaces. His stores always feel like somewhere you would want to live, very experiential.

The above cluster of artwork, was displayed in a Kate Spade store. All of the unique artwork was for sale as well.
While I dont have very many examples of Kate/Jake spade stores. But I love this pop up store he did for Jcrew mens.
They took over an old Liquor store and retained the name. The re-brand was done when no one cared about JCrew mens line and they weren’t offering anything unique.

For a little more info on David, i recommend this article over at the The New York Observer.
And while we are kind of on topic…how cute is this sweater over at Kate Spade right now?!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
