The Look For Less

“The Look For Less” is not something I regularly do. I mean I am always looking for the look for less in a larger sense but I thought this side by side comparison was too good not to share. Everyone has different thoughts on a knock off, but if you don’t have $250 to throw around on trendy sandals, then I say, “why not?”. Old Navy has some sandals right now that highly resemble the Marc Jacobs Clean Wedge Sandal for just under $25.

There a lot of amazing kids shops these days on Etsy. Many of them you have probably seen. But one I had sadly never seen is Paul & Pauala from Australia.

This image in particular stole my heart:
Maybe in part (aside from the cute outfit) because I can imagine our baby boy looking a bit like this? John’s golden locks and my brown eyes?

And these little skateboard leggins?! Ahh!

Damn You Forever

So yesterday when I was searching for my blanket sweater on Forever 21 so I could link you guys, I came across this awesome top. Where was this bad boy when I was in the store?! I love it.

I’m currently debating an online purchase….but it’s hard to shop non maternity when you are sporting a small basketball under your shirt without trying it on. Blurg.

Finally a MaMa

I have been eyeballing this amazing Nora Kogan ring for years.

It has been on my “one day” wishlist forever. That day has finally come.

John got it for me as a “push present” if you want to use that silly term. But really, he got it for me because he loves me. We had it sized to my wedding finger, because, is there really anything better than being both a wife and a mother? When he gifted it to my early (this weekend) I told him I loved it and then asked “But am I allowed to wear it yet? I’m not a mama yet.” to which he responded “YES YOU ARE!” and stared at my ever growing belly.

He’s hoping for a motorcycle for his “push present”. haha. Even if he’s not doing any pushing, I wish I could afford to get him that as a gift. He’s the best.

PS this ring is insanely dainty in real life. It looks a bit different than this photo. Also the gold is shiny, not matte like it appears here.

Oh. My. Gah. – Stilleben Highchair

Is this not the most beautiful high chair you have ever seen in you life?

When I saw it, I was sure it would cost a million dollars.
When it turned out that it doesn’t cost a million dollars, I was sure that they would not ship to the US.
When it turned out that they did ship to the US, I was sure it would cost a million dollars.

I was wrong.

There is not a lot of product information on their site but we fell in love instantly.

And sometimes when you fall in love, you do stupid things.

We bought this beautiful sexy highchair.

Even if we don’t know where it will go, or exactly how big it is, or how long it will be until we use it, or if it will arrive in one piece.

But despite all that, we are in love. And we just bought the most beautiful highchair we have ever seen in our lives.

Europeans just do baby stuff 500% better than we do.

Spoiled Pup

John & I may not have gotten each other gifts for Valentine’s Day but someone in the house still got spoiled. I happened to discover Billy Wolf yesterday, and it just so happened that they were running a Valentine’s Special (of 40% off!!). Sorry I didn’t know about it sooner so you could all run out and get load of adorable dog goodies at a discount. But their prices are still great and the stuff is unbelievably cute. I like to think of it as menswear for dogs. Obviously, the ladies can still rock menswear (like our pup).

Here is what we got.

Be sure to check out Billy Wolf, their stuff is totally awesome and looks really high quality. Especially if you live in a cold climate. I mean we bought all this and we live in Los Angeles! We cant wait for the few times a year that Peeps can rock her Billy Wolf duds.

Boy oh Boy

Now that we know the baby is a boy, it’s been hard to resist buying cute things when I see them on sale. Target has had some pretty awesome clearance lately. (Like this Liz Lange maternity dress I picked up for $10) And they had some adorable baby stuff that I had to grab recently.

Early in the pregnancy John and I were at the outlet mall that is a stop along the way to Carpinteria and we were temped to buy some OshKoshB’Gosh overalls, but decided to wait.. There is something pretty adorable about a train conductor baby overall. Not to mention that they remind us of our own childhood.

Um and this little outdoorsman outfit? Get outta here! The soft flannel fabric, the cute little badge and the matching pants like Papa’s? Sold.

And because I am a sucker for elbow patches, I may have been forced to buy the toddler sweatshirt version of this design as well!

More elbow patches?! Yes please. This little onesie actually came with the overalls (so it was double the bargain) I may have switched the onesie that came with the non striped overall but that’s okay right? Anything is fair game when it’s Clearance right? Okay thanks, I feel better now. Oh, what do I care? Stop judging me.

Jack Spade Waxed Canvas Pocket Duffel

This weekend John and I popped into TJMaxx real quick for something and we found this over sized Jack Spade duffel. John has a bit of a bag obsession. He loves a utilitarian man bag. And Jack Spade knows their man bags, but they tend to cost quite the pretty penny. This bag retails for $500 but at TJMaxx we nabbed it for $199. I guess that makes us “merry maxxinistas”???
Either way, we were pretty pumped on it.

Target rips off independent artists

Recently Target managed to rip off not one, but two different independent artist. I’ts a totally bummer because I really love Target.

Exhibit A:
This is a line of cards by illustrator Anna Rifle of Rifle Design

See that adorable “hello” speech bubble in the upper right? Well, turns out, Target saw it too. This is a tray they recently released:

I don’t think they even bothered to re-draw it! It looks EXACTLY the same, her handwriting and everything!

Exhibit B:
This is a popular wallpaper design by Joy Cho of OhJoy

She recently used the same design to launch a line of children’s clothes earlier this year.

Recently while out shopping at Target with her family, Joy found and instagramed this Target knock off:

What’s even more upsetting about this particular knock off is that Target has hired and worked with Joy in the past (for a line of stationary). They cant claim that they are unfamiliar with her work or that it was a coincidence.

All of this is really upsetting because, like I said, I like Target! But this makes me….not like Target. It’s a very confusing time for me. But what I’m hoping is that if enough people talk about and blog about this sort of thing, large companies will to some degree feel shamed and not do this sort of stuff, because it’s really dirty and evil.

yuck.

Peanut’s new dog bed

Just got this adorable small floor cushion for Peeps. Thanks to Dog-Milk for the heads up on a similar Land of Nod floor cushion! These cushions are intended for children, but if you ask me (and Dog-Milk) they are perfect for pups! I've had my eye out for a new/simple affordable bed for her. This gingham pattern was on sale for $13.95 (for the small 22" size) and comes in three colors. Plus I love a classic gingham print. Perfect.
